TELARE LA MATERIA
AT THE GREEN&BLUE 2024 FESTIVAL
From 3 to 5 June 2024, at the Green&Blue Festival at the IBM Studios in Milan, United Colors of Benetton is presenting “Telare la Materia”, a sustainable design project conceived by Davide Balda, a young designer and resident at Fabrica, the Benetton Group's research center of Benetton. The third edition of Italy's most important sustainability festival is titled “L’impresa della sostenibilità” ("The business of sustainability"). The theme is perfectly in-line with the objective of "Telare la Materia": proposing a series of applications to address the impact of the textile industry on the environment and encouraging the disposal of clothing items at the location where they are produced. Starting from unsold garments from the Green B line, Balda will show us how to reduce garments into fabrics, and fabrics into textile fibres, both synthetic and organic, which can then be reused in different applications. For the occasion, the materials obtained from this regeneration process will also be used in the festival stage setup, where scientists, activists, institutions and companies committed to sustainability will take turns presenting. We hope to see you at Giardino de Castillia at BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano to learn about the project. If you want to experience the process and its applications first-hand, you can take part in the workshop that will be held by Davide Balda during the festival.
WHO IS DAVIDE BALDA
